(English) Dragon Ball Broly the movie and Fate Stay Night Lawson limited edition products

On our trip we have stopped at a Lawson that is one of the combini  (コンビニ) or convenience store opened usually 24 hours a day anywhere in Japan. In this case, we could find limited edition items from the Fate Stay Night series and the Dragon Ball Broly movie only available on the Lawson chain. At the same time, a terrible snowfall, at times whirlwind and snowstorm was going on outside. As if they had scattered diamond dust, the snow shone brightly, as if a sea of blue stars were reflected in the white surface that was unfolding before my eyes. It was a natural light, a nocturnal spectacle of indescribable beauty and intensity.

This morning began just like any other; with me in a borderline comatose state, gulping down some much needed coffee. After staring at a wall for a good while, my eyes fixated on the Ram figure standing on the table before me and a thought came to me. Where is Rem? Indeed, Ram & Rem are like mornings & coffee – you can’t have one without the other!

I turned to my loyal ally, the internet, for help and soon enough stumbled upon this unbelievably adorable Rem figure(Rem Birthday Cake version). After a little research, I found out that it’s the first figure in a collaboration project between Kadokawa (RE:Zero anime producer) and Good Smile Company (Figure manufacturer).

 

Love at the first sight, huh?

Our ever-working elves figured that you guys might also wish to add this adorable Rem into your figure collection, so they have been working an extra 28/7 (molding PVC takes time guys!) and now we can happily announce that she’s available for purchase on the Export Manga website!

 

The Slowly Creeping Xmas

Hyeallo!

It’s already been a few days since the last post – so why not make little update, eh?

Today once again, I went for a little visit to the famous Akihabara. Even after so many years it’s still one of my favorite places in Tokyo. Anime and electronics everywhere! The main reason for today’s trip was to see weather or not the upcoming Xmas would already be visible – in the form of special figures and other seasonal products. It seems that I was a tad too early though, as even the Kentucky fried chicken statue hadn’t changed into a Santa-costume. As for the figures, I could only find Hatsune Miku with a Xmasy getup. Slowly but surely though the atmosphere is changing – people are already wearing winter jackets!

Now that I mentioned Kentucky Chicken… I’ve often heard rumors that in Japan it’s common to eat Kentucky chicken on Xmas, but whenever I ask about it from any of my Japanese friends, their reaction is like: “Kentucky chicken? Really? Here in Japan? But that’s expensive!”. So basically I’ve yet to get any concrete proof on weather the rumor is indeed true or not. BUT! The truth might still be somewhere out there. Instead of the Santa-costume I was expecting to see on the statue, I found this ad on the wall! Coincidence? I think not. Sooner or later I’m going to find out the truth…

There’s some Chicken! Xmas Chicken!

I also happened to stumble upon an interesting street gig in front of Yodobashi Camera. They played some kind of Jazz with a really good vibe to it! I’ll be uploading a video about it later on, but here’s a picture of them for starters!

Breaking the Silence

Finally back in japan! Actually I have already been here for a while… This time I’m here as an exchange student which is also my excuse for my long radio silence. But what would be a better time to break the silence than today and now ? I was really wondering what to write to the Export-Manga blog this time. So this will be a warm up!

And the story begins…

Last week I took part in the “Challenge walk”. Apparently it is an annual event that goes way back to the history of our school, though originally it had nothing to do with the said school. In it I had to walk (running was strictly banned :D) from my school to Choufu and the distance was roughly about 30km. I also heard some rumors that the original challenge walk had been 60km, so this was a peace of cake compared to that. Sun was shining and it was warm outside so everything was perfect!

  • Water – check!
  • Shoes – check!
  • Good company – check!

At one point one of my walking buddies pointed out that we were in front of a bridge that can be seen in the ending of an anime called “Isshuukan Friends(一週間フレンズ)” and told me that the school where the anime takes place was also somewhere nearby. There is a picture for proof bellow and I quatro checked it. Anime pic->Real life eyes->-Anime pic->Real life eyes->Anime pic… and YES! That must be it! For a moment I felt like the world was starting to loose one of its dimensions…

 

 

 

As the goal was drawing near, we had the chance to witness a really cool phenomenom: sun rays coming out from little holes through the clouds. It was a really, really divine and breathtaking view! We kept staring at the sky as we walked on and about 10 minutes later,  a phone began to ring in one of my group member’s pocket. After answering the call he found out that we had missed the last checkpoint some kilometers ago… 😀 So yes: breathtaking – check!

We reached the goal after about 5 hours of walking and yeah, I felt pretty good about myself – though my knees were aching, but that was a small price to pay for such an experience. The only thing that went through my head after reaching the goal was “Ramen, Ramen Ramen, Ramen” … but that’s another story!

BTW – Christmas is coming and the little elves of Export-Manga have started doing their magic, so stay tuned!
